Chaplin is director of the Journalism + Design program at the New School, funded by a generous grant from The Knight Foundation. She is a previous Knight grant recipient winner for the Data Toys project, which made playable models of complexity in the news. Chaplin covered videogames for ten years working for All Things Considered, The New York Times, Details, and The LA Times, among other places. She is the co-author of Smartbomb: The Quest for Art, Entertainment and Big Bucks in the Videogame Revolution.
