Who’s going? Collaborative reporting on planned news events.

This is for a Speaker in the category for a Intermediate audience.

Zapaday is a future news agenda that helps journalists, newsrooms and publishers to know the future, anticipate and plan ahead. On their Zapaday dashboard, journalists can easily find the future events of ongoing stories, see new angles and spot upcoming events on time.

In the Netherlands and two other European countries we’re now working on a model where journalists from multiple organisations can share who will cover what, who will be reporting what events, court hearings, presentations. This way, together, we can cover more ground where it matters and, individually, you can spot unreported court cases and committee meetings.

We will present our rationale, how we see this will change news reporting, some interesting cases with responses from journalists involved and a brief intro to the way of working.

How does your submission contribute to the diversity of the conference?

Our presentation merges two recent topics: the growing importance of news calendars and collaborative reporting, supported by digital tools. Our approach is novel and can be widely applied.

What will your audience have gained by the time your session is over?
