He oversees the use of social media by AP&#39;s 2,000-plus journalists to uncover breaking news, gather user-generated content and connect with readers. Carvin, a 14-year AP veteran, has extensive experience with innovative storytelling. He ran Meltdown 101, an award-winning series that explained the economic crisis, and Ask AP, a column in which AP journalists answered readers\u2019 questions. He was the news editor of asap, an AP service that pursued innovative approaches to news, and he edited \u201cFar and Wide,\u201d AP\u2019s first news blog. He&#39;s played a number of other roles during his AP career, including as the editor coordinating the global AP report. Carvin is an ONA board member who founded and chairs the board&#39;s News Ethics committee.
