Most recently a John S. Knight Journalism Fellow at Stanford University, she previously worked as editor of Billboard, chief content officer of VIBE Media Group and editor-in-chief of Vibe \/ vibe.com. Smith is also a former Time Inc. editor-at-large, and has written for NPR, ESPN the Magazine, CNN, MySpace, Elle, Essence, the New Yorker, Rolling Stone, Cond\u00e9 Nast Media Group, and the New York Times. She&#39;s the author of the novels More Like Wrestling (Crown, 2003) and Bliss (Crown, 2005). Smith is currently working on a history of African-American women in pop music (It Books\/HarperCollins).
