Oktavía Jónsdóttir

Jónsdóttir is the Program Director of the S.A.F.E. Initiative, a DRL-funded program that provides integrated safety trainings combining physical, digital and psycho-social care to journalists in Central America, Africa and Eurasia. She is a media support expert whose prior work has included developing and fortifying the digital activities of media and civil society. Her work focuses on supporting media in conflict-affected and repressive environments with a specialty in digital security. Jónsdóttir has managed the start-up of a secure hosting platform that mitigated DDoS attacks and provided training to media outlets, NGOs and unions in secure communications. Fully fluent in the tools of digital security, she also has advised on safety structures and physical security training for media workers spanning from Africa to SE Asia.
