Since Aug. 2012, Nekola has been a web developer at the Pew Research Center, specializing in data visualization and WordPress development. He received his Bachelor's in Journalism from the University of Illinois in 2006 and started his career as a photojournalist at the Morris Daily Herald, a small daily in Illinois. After teaching himself PHP, ActionScript and Javascript, Nekola then served as Senior Web Producer at the Northwest Herald in Crystal Lake, IL, from 2010-2012 - overseeing video production and website operations for four dailies and a number of weeklies. He recommends Giordano's for deep dish while you're in Chicago - and Portillo's for Italian beef.
