Monson is co-founder of Code for Miami, Hacks/Hackers Miami and WhereBy.Us. She works as communications manager for the University of Miami School of Communication, where she's also an Interactive Media MFA student learning about interaction design and how to break everything she builds in new and exciting ways. Monson previously did all kinds of journalism jobs at The Sun-Sentinel in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and The Spokesman-Review in Spokane, Washington. She likes making interesting things for humans, learning and building better communities.
