Gutsche is an assistant professor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Florida International University. A reporter since 1996, his scholarship focuses on cultural meanings of the news, particularly the ideological connections between news representations of race and place. At ONA, he is representing his team's project, eyesontherise.org, which examines how curriculum and community collaboration can increase awareness and practical outcomes associated with sea level rise in South Florida.
