Junnarkar is the Director of Interactive Journalism at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism. He began his career by helping build the earliest digital editions of The New York Times on America Online and then as breaking news editor, writer and Web producer when the paper went live on the Internet as www.nytimes.com. He's the recipient of numerous journalism awards, including an Online Journalism Award for his investigative series on hackers' frequent intrusions into banking systems. He was also awarded a J-Lab New Voices grant for 2008-2010 to expand his Family Life behind Bars project. The project examined the impact on family relations and dynamics when one or more member of a family is incarcerated. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a B.A. in Social Science and from the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism with a M.S. in Journalism.
