Agile workflow for the classroom

This is for a Speaker in the category for a Beginner audience.

We propose a presentation demonstrating workflows for creating
multimedia projects in an academic environment. In 2001 a group of
software developers created a document titled the Agile Manifesto,
redefining how digital products should be developed in the 21st
century. These ideas consisted of incremental improvements, iteration,
self-organizing, evolutionary development and adaptive planning. At a
J-School, we realize many aspects of this workflow fit within the
workflow of projects produced by students, as well as the various
tools and frameworks for promoting creativity. This session will
discuss how Agile can be used in an academic environment, and how
iteration can exist through continuous learning and adaptation. It
will also cover specific tools and methods for using Agile in a
classroom experience, ranging from mood boards, storyboarding, user
testing, and software tools to facilitate these interactions.

How does your submission contribute to the diversity of the conference?

This session will promote diversity in a number of ways: few sessions are led by academics, and this will be an opportunity to help share experiences which could be applicable to the profession. As well, both instructors are Mexican-Americans, helping to represent a more culturally diverse speaker lineup.

What will your audience have gained by the time your session is over?
