“DEFINE SYNDICATION”

This is for a Panel in the category for a Expert audience.

The definition of syndication is fluid. It is also based on whether that means collecting a rate, a barter, or a metric for writers and news organizations. This relationship is critical, because digital is *de facto* syndication. There is a lot of interest in (as well as confusion about) what is meant by content syndication, and what the implications are for providers and publishers. Almost every new content business is defined by their ability to create, polish, curate, or push content, and how they treat or define the term “syndication.” But what if we were to define the entirety of the field of syndication, from editorial content to tools and feeds? What if we were to examine the legacy of syndicated editorial and the future of syndicated content using real-work, real-time actual practices, examining new ideas and examples.

How does your submission contribute to the diversity of the conference?

I've attended ONA for four or five years. In that time, I've seen no other panel on this topic in my years as a member.

What will your audience have gained by the time your session is over?
