Cookie Monster is a frenzied, yet cuddly, character with an eternal quest to find more food, especially cookies! Those who are learning and exploring language can understand and identify with Cookie Monster as he represents children with various speech abilities. His voracious appetite for cookies has made him the perfect character to model healthy habits as he learns about eating healthy foods and “sometimes” vs. “anytime” snacks. He has also struggled (with intermittent success) to control his impulses and delay gratification, some of the self-regulation and executive functions that are core to a preschooler’s school and life success. He models and encourages these skills and strategies in his segment “Cookie’s Crumby Pictures.”
